Ascend Functional materials Co., Ltd. originated in 1950 when Monsanto established the chemical division including nylon 6,6. In 1997, Monsanto split its Chemical Division to form Solutia. On June 1st, 2009, SK Capital Partners, a private investment company, acquired Solutia's nylon business and established Ascend Performance Materials.
